The Polish Society for Non-destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics SIMP (PTBNiDT SIMP) was established by the decision of the Management Board of SIMP and it is a scientific-technical society, acting at the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians (SIMP) in acc. with its statute. The beginning of the activities concerned materials testing since 1956 year. The Society is a specialized organizational unit of SIMP, acting as an expert and a representative of SIMP in the field of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics in the sectors of fabrication and operation of components, products and structures as well as related applications in the relevant sectors of the economy and science. In terms of substantive activity, the Society operates independently. The main  activities concerns:
• organization of an annual National Conference on NDT – KKBN. In the current year it is 45 KKBN, 
• promoting the international cooperation in the field of NDT; PTBNiDT is a member of EFNDT and ICNDT. It has recommended  the certification scheme of NDT personnel UDT-CERT (established in 2002 year) as meeting the requirements of standard, at first EN 473 and then EN ISO 9712, to EFNDT and ICNDT.
• being an advisory voice to the Polish authorities,
• popularization of NDT knowledge and promoting the development of science and technology,
• supporting the professional qualifications of its members,
• obtaining professional specialization and obtaining certificates of competence. PTBNiDT SIMP participated in confirming the competence of NDT personnel before was established certification body in Poland. In 1987 the national commission for qualification of the first group of level 3 Polish NDT experts based on „grand-fathering” was set up in SIMP; they obtained diplomas corresponding with level 3 certificates.
