ADVACAM

Finland

Advacam designs, manufactures and sells digital material resolving color X-ray imaging cameras for non-destructive inspection in oil and gas, aerospace and electronics industries. In these industries, high quality lightweight materials are the key construction elements for modern vehicles or lighter devices. Inspection and quality assurance for defects, impurities or cracks in these materials is important. With Advacam´s cameras challenging defects such as deep laminate wrinkles, kissing-bonds, delaminations, porosity, foreign objects and micro-cracks in the soft materials can be detected with spatial resolution of 55 um or better.

In oil and gas industry, inspection of welds is a critical task. Advacam´s technology enables superior signal-to-noise and spatial resolution with reduced dose identification of fine defects even within 8 cm thick wall of pressurized stainless steel tank.

Advacam´s row cameras can be used in high speed and gigh resolution scanning of large structures or objects carried on a conveyor belt.

In addition to the detection of the defects, the Advacam´s camera allows identification of materials in the X-ray images by measuring changes of the X-ray wavelength spectrum. The material discrimination technique allows instant measurement of important properties in high resolution, such as fiber-to-resin ratio distribution and adhesive distribution in a composite structure.
