The roots are in 1959, when Ernest Kowol started NDT business in England with the company Inspection Equipment Limited in East Sussex and 1969 in Germany with KOWOL GmbH in Düsseldorf, Christoph von dem Bussche was Managing Director. He started 1989 the new company KOWOTEST Gesellschaft für Prüfausrüstung mbH in Langenfeld, near Düsseldorf. 1997   started the branch of KOWOTEST in the south of Germany.

In the beginning projects and sales of accessories for X-ray testing and equipment for Coating and Cathodic Protection inspection in Eastern Europe countries and Russia was a major part of business. Especially after the opening the branch office in Trostberg concentration to development new equipment was started, like Film viewers with LED technology, Duplex Wire Type IQI and CR Phantom were designed and manufactured together with other accessories for inspection.

These new products made KOWOTEST a global player and market shares could be increased through a world-wide net of local representatives. More ideas for new products are coming up and well-known equipment will be improved.
