PROGNET Kooperationsnetzwerk

Germany

PROGNET and ZL are two research and innovation cooperation networks managed by the Berlin branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS, located in Berlin-Adlershof, one of Germany's most innovative Science and Technology Parks.
They are funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi, Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie) and are part of the Central Innovation Programme for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with business operations in Germany, which develop or significantly improve products, processes and technical services.

The objective of PROGNET is the development and the optimization of nondestructive evaluation methods for innovative materials and of the necessary tools for simulation and monitoring, which is achieved by close collaboration between applied research and industry. The network especially focusses on the forecasting, energy efficiency and environmental safety of composite materials and their production in the areas of lightweight construction and traffic engineering.

ZL (Zuverlässige Leistungselektronik, Reliable Power Electronics) is a cooperation network focusing on high reliability of energy efficient power electronic modules. This is being achieved by the development, application and the commercial launch of methods and technologies for nondestructive and destructive evaluation of power electronics, and the creation of simulation and monitoring tools for the characterization of materials and composites, as well as tools for the process control of packaging of integrated circuits.

The testing equipment and methods are developed in cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and will subsequently be integrated into their production processes, with an automated "industry 4.0" production in mind.
