QASS GmbH

Germany

QASS is a medium-sized enterprise located in the city of Wetter (Ruhr) in Germany. If it comes to bending and straightening of gear shafts, QASS is world market leader. The measurement computers of QASS render it possible to evaluate many production processes, to detect cracks in the very moment they occur and to check if production parameters stay inside tolerance thresholds:
• crack detection
• raise life time of tools
• Tool monitoring
• Process optimization
QASS stands for “Quality – Automation – Systems – Software”. QASS measurement technology works by High-Frequency-Impulse-Measurement (HFIM), which bases upon structure borne noise analysis. Destruction-free, 100%-in-process, fully automated.
HFIM allows to qualify many production parameters in multiple processes – for example during bending and straightening, joining, cold forming, inductive hardening and welding. Today, roundabout 50 people work for QASS. Retailing and service partners work in China, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, North- and South America. The company was founded in 2001 by it’s CEO, Ulrich Seuthe.
QASS measurement technology is based upon High-Frequency-Impulse-Measurement (HFIM). It detects changes in the structure of work-pieces and tools that originate during production processes, for example during bending and straightening, joining, cold forming, welding and many more. Destructionfree, automated and 100%-in-process. QASS renders many downstream quality assurance procedures superfl uous, especially for bending and straightening.
Background: During production processes, acoustic emission (structure borne noise) emerges from work-piece, tool and machine. Optimizer4D detects these impulses and displays them by realtime-frequency-analysis. Vibrations up to 25MHz and simultaneous detection of very short incidents (< 100-s) break down the processes. This is High-Speed Process Monitoring by QASS.
